After completing Adele’s and Baja Sexto for Howard Greenstone of Red Pebbles Hospitality, Dowdle, along with architect Barry Brechak, was asked to lead the conversion of the former Watermark Restaurant in the Gulch into Matt Bolus’ new restaurant concept 404 Kitchen and Gertie’s Bar.
The 7,300-square-foot restaurant has two floors. Gertie’s Bar is on the first floor. The second floor, 404 Kitchen, was reconfigured to allow for outdoor dining options as well as multiple private dining spaces. The custom illuminated back bar displays one of the country’s largest bourbon collections. 404 also has an expansive patio overlooking Nashville’s popular Gulch neighborhood.
