Casa Azafran and Azafran Park

About This Project

When awarding it a ULI Excellence in Development award, judges described Casa Azafrán as “smart building and design meets economic and cultural investment through public/private partnerships.”

We constructed a courtyard and large entry façade and built out 17,000 square feet of the building shell, adding offices, a commercial kitchen, medical clinic, workout rooms and event space for Conexión Américas and the immigrant and refugee community it serves.

We also built the neighborhood Azafrán Park, which includes a sculptural maze of interlocking colorful blocks, Italian collective Cracking Art sculptural snails, a pre-school playground, a splash pad, the flight pavilion and mural, a drum circle and the Roots & Routes International Coin Mural.  The Coin Mural is an eight-foot by six-foot work of art made by local artists using coins from around the world to represent the roots and routes of Nashville’s diverse residents.
