About This Project

Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint is a classic Nashville barbeque restaurant with multiple locations. We renovated and built out the location on 4th Avenue South in the downtown SoBro neighborhood. Formerly a music venue, we completed this project for the founder and owner of the Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joints, Pat Martin.

Designed by Nick Dryden with Dryden Architecture and Design, the building that stands today was built around a former music venue, the Rutledge. After selective demolition, only a few walls were left standing from the 1920s structure.

With three bars, two kitchens, an outdoor beer garden, two private dining rooms, a stage for live music, and four whole-hog pits for cooking up their signature barbeque-smoked meats, the 12,000-square-foot restaurant has become a destination for both tourists and locals.

Sometimes you will find a local musician performing on a hay wagon in the beer garden. So, it’s no surprise that Martin’s has been best described as “12,000 square feet of pure fun and great BBQ.”
