About This Project

Dowdle Construction has been working with Mt. Zion Baptist Church for more than 20 years.

We worked with Nashville architect Harold Thompson to construct the church’s 90,000-square-foot worship center located on 35 acres in Whites Creek, Tennessee. The church sanctuary seats 3,800 people and includes two balconies. A large, open, two-story gathering space connects the sanctuary to offices, class rooms, the nursery, fellowship hall, and commercial kitchen. The campus also has parking for 780 cars, numerous retaining walls and acres of landscaping.

Later we worked with Tuck Hinton Architecture & Design to transform a 42,000-square-foot grocery store and adjacent nightclub on Murfreesboro Road in South Nashville into a satellite worship center known as Mt. Zion South. The church purchased the entire shopping center, turning the grocery store and nightclub space into a large sanctuary, offices, classrooms and a warming kitchen. Dowdle also constructed the Kids Space, nursery and teen center, which are a few doors down the sidewalk in the retail center.
