A unique event space known as Riverside Revival, Dowdle Construction Group worked with Southeast Venture Design to renovate and redesign the former home of Family Affair Ministry in East Nashville on the corner of Riverside Drive and Porter Road. As a former church building, we kept in place the space’s original stained-glass windows and renovated the former sanctuary – including the stage, balcony, seating and chandeliers – into a performance venue for local community theater groups and aspiring performers and musicians. A full commercial kitchen was built in the lower level, along with office space for local nonprofits.
Attached to the event space is a classroom and office building that we also renovated completely and to which we added two floors. Now four stories, the building houses the Boedecker Foundation Collaborative Campus, a hub for nonprofits in the local area, including the Nikki Mitchell Foundation, Homeland Heart Birth & Wellness Collective, There With Care, Nurses for Newborns, Sing Me A Story, Montessori East, Book ‘em, Patchwork, Happy Belly and Brinnovate. On the exterior wall facing Porter Road is a full-length mural painted by a native Nashville artist, Danielle Duer.
The campus is owned by the Boedecker Foundation, a nonprofit started by philanthropist George Boedecker Jr., co-founder and former CEO of well-known shoe company Crocs, Inc.
