Construction Is Complete on Southern Grist Brewing’s New East Nashville Taproom
Dowdle Construction Group announced today the completion of Southern Grist Brewing’s new location on Douglas Avenue in East Nashville, designed by Remick Architecture. The popular local brewery is relocating from its original location on Porter Road and will offer a wide selection of Southern Grist’s craft beers as well as a new and improved menu.
“We’re excited to move our taproom to this location, which is twice the size of our previous space and has more parking,” said Southern Grist CEO and co-founder Kevin Antoon. “The Highland Yards area is becoming the new hub for a diverse array of local, family-friendly businesses and housing.”
The almost-3,500-square-foot taproom has indoor and outdoor seating options, including two different patio areas. The interior will showcase a floating bar with 40 taps as well as banquette-style seating, a full kitchen, a merchandise and to-go area, TVs and 24-foot glass garage doors to create more open-air space.
“Remick Architecture did a great job on the design, especially with all the COVID-related considerations we needed to incorporate, such as outdoor seating and additional space indoors,” Antoon said. “And we have partnered with Dowdle Construction for every project since we opened in 2016. They have always understood our intentions for each location and helped us through every challenge in the process. Dowdle is the best we have seen in the industry because of their honesty, quality and shared vision.”
Dowdle Principal Chase Manning echoed this sentiment saying, “It’s been a pleasure to work on another location for Southern Grist. We place a huge emphasis on doing projects for locally owned hospitality businesses like this one because they provide great gathering places and help to preserve the unique charm of Nashville.”
The new taproom is now open.
