Repairs to Coyote Ugly Saloon Are Complete
Second Avenue bar re-opening tonight after suffering damages in Christmas Day bombing
Repairs to Second Avenue bar, Coyote Ugly Saloon, are now complete, Dowdle Construction Group announced today. The classic Nashville establishment sustained considerable damage from the 2020 Christmas Day bombing, along with three other tenants in the building.
“These businesses, some of them long-time staples of this downtown block, went through something traumatic,” said Dowdle Project Manager Kyle Swarm. “We’re privileged to help Coyote Ugly get back up and running again and are excited to see them return even better than before.”
Work on the 6,000-square-foot space included interior upgrades, designed by Remick Moore, such as a new mirror behind the 100-foot-long bar, an all-new retail area and casework, new VIP banquettes, murals on several walls and additions to the “Instagram wall” featuring the signature Coyote Ugly truck bed.
“It has been a long time coming, but we’re very excited to soon reopen our doors to Nashville visitors and locals alike,” said Leejon Killingsworth, chief creative and retail officer at Coyote Ugly Saloon. “We’re grateful for Dowdle and Remick’s work to aid in our recuperation and bring our new vision to life.”
Coyote Ugly, which started as a small, woman-owned business in the East Village in New York City in 1993, is now one of the most well-known bars in the U.S. with 13 locations across the country. There are also Coyote Ugly bars in Russia, Germany, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan and the United Kingdom, and more will be opening soon in Canada and Mexico. The Nashville location originally opened in 2004 and is the chain’s largest.
The bar is reopening tonight, May 11.
