Central BBQ

Dowdle renovated the approximately 5,300-square-foot restaurant space on 21st Avenue, formerly home to Sportsman’s Grille. The renovation was designed by Lauren Miller-Wilmoth with Smith Gee and engineered by Genesis Engineering Group.

Central BBQ is a Memphis-based restaurant that opened its first Nashville location in 2019 in the Capitol View development. The new location in Hillsboro Village also has space to handle off-site catering, delivery and private events on the second floor

The building was constructed in the 1930s and features exposed multiple-wythe brick walls.  Many locals will remember Spats Restaurant and Bar which operated in this building for many years.
