About This Project

In Fall 2020 we completed the 900-square-foot interior fit-out of new wine and cheese bar Culture + Co., co-founded by mother-daughter duo Jacqueline Palladino and Ashton Judy. The restaurant is in L&L Market – a 55,000-square-foot retail and restaurant marketplace on Charlotte Pike in West Nashville. It’s set up as an open-floor space in the main hallway of the marketplace with bar-style seating.

The owners worked with Laura Bennett Design to create the concept of the space. A highlight is the moving conveyor belt built into the counter, meant to carry cheese and other charcuterie items to the customers sitting at the bar. It’s the only charcuterie conveyor belt in the country. Below the counter, we installed locally-sourced tile to wrap around the entire bar, made by Red Rock Tileworks. The space also features art from local artists and an old-time movie theater marquee above the bar to announce the current specials.

This project joins a slew of other build-outs we’ve worked on within L&L Market, including Bold Patriot Brewing Co., Happily Grey, Collective615, CycleBar, Alchemist Salon and Daphne Home. We didn’t realize when we first renovated and repurposed the century-old industrial building in 2018 that it would become an ongoing project, but we love the fact that we have been a part of building this community from the ground up.

The restaurant turned out to be a trendy, fun spot for locals and tourists alike, fitting in perfectly with the look and feel of the marketplace as a whole. “As soon as we saw L&L, we knew it was the right spot for us,” said Judy. “We love the neighborhood, the community and the other vendors, many of which are also women-owned businesses. It’s a beautiful space!”
