Silo Studios Complete – Modern Contractor Solutions
Modern Contractor Solutions shared the announcement that Dowdle Construction Group completed the construction of Nashville’s Silo Studios, an 80,000-square-foot office, retail and restaurant complex.
Owned by South Carolina-based Flyway and designed by Southeast Venture Design, the unique restoration project consisted of converting an old lumber mill into a trendy new commercial space located in the burgeoning Nations neighborhood in West Nashville.
It is a centerpiece of the 37-acre, mixed-use development known as Silo Bend, named for its location along a bend of the Cumberland River and the iconic, mural-emblazoned silo that stands nearby.
The article quotes Flyway founder and president Lindsay Nevin saying, “‘Southeast Venture Design and Dowdle did a phenomenal job designing and building this project. They were true partners and listened to our every request. We think Silo Studios will be a popular attraction for Nations residents and all of Nashville. It’s a true community space.’”
As the article explains, “The building’s structure is unique in that it’s one of the largest remaining bow truss structures in Nashville. Adele’s in the Gulch, though a much smaller building, also has this specific structure. To keep the building’s industrial charm, it was important to Flyway to not only maintain the original structure, but also to incorporate as much of the existing design elements as possible, including the original tongue-and-groove hardwood flooring and some of the lumber milling equipment.”
Nathan Narwold, the project’s architect from Southeast Venture Design, added, “I’m most excited to see what the next generation of this building entails, and see the value it will ultimately bring to the Silo Bend development and surrounding community.”
